I am not going to make bad comments on anyone’s intelligence by making a list of the so-called “Cheating” statistics here and how accurate they are. Not every is going to kiss and tell.
They say that it doesn’t take a genius to realized that the world is really changing, that infidelity is becoming a nation past time worldwide. We are culture obsessed with self gratification. It’s a fact that there are two things we want most in this life. Sex and money. You don’t believe me? Then do a research on SEO book for the average monthly searches done. At the time of this writing: sex – 25,960,830 money – 2,254,067. It’s not hard to tell where our heads are now!
Please do not tell me that it is mostly men who cheat. If this is the case, then how can you explain that there are almost equal numbers of men searching for “signs’ of a Cheating Wife/Girlfriend as there are women searching also for “signs” of a cheating man/boyfriend”?
As the saying goes – it’s the men who cheat and they are “scum of the earth”, Come on ladies, you also have your share on this. Do you consider yourself a “scum” when you cheat? Of course not! You were just ‘driven’ to it by a cold, insensitive, uncaring man! This is rubbish. If it’s an unforgivable offense for a man, then it should also be on the part of woman.
Cheating is not new in the society. Grandparents cheated and even great-grandparents. This is, back then, we are more careful to air our dirty linen in the public than we are nowadays. We may have strayed every now and then but our will to stay with and support the families we created is still strong. With a dozen of kids and a farm to run, who had time to worry that little bro had blue eyes and blonde hair when the rest of the family were brunettes? Damn the milkman anyway!
King Henry VIII of England also cheated on his first wife Catherine with a lady named Anne back in 1526. When he tired of her company just of Anne’s company in favor of Jane, Anne was beheaded because of false accusations on witchcraft. Prince Charles and Princess Diana were allowed to get divorce, but not before making a public spectacles of themselves! No beheading this time of course. They dragged their follies out in the public for years before putting an end of it.
Almost everybody does it, Kings and Queens, Politicians do it (Ex President Clinton will be remembered for saying “I did not have sex with that woman”), celebrities do it daily and even our televangelists. Do you remember Jimmy Swaggart bawling his eyes out on national TV? And how about Ted Haggard’s sordid “affair”? He was the former president of the national evangelical association that represents almost 30 million evangelical Christians. Good grief, is there someone immune to the sinful clutches of infidelity? I guess not.
This may be a 60’s doctrine but the famous phrase “if it feels good – do it!” is alive and well. We strongly agree on this, we live it and every day, just like kids, we tend to push the envelope just a little further.
So where is this headed? Infidelity will continue and marriage will become a history or a thing in the past. The terms “husband” and “wife” will be replaced with the endearing title of “Significant Other” Truly Romantic!
So long as there is internet, it is mostly likely that people who are “at risk” will be cheating. In ten minutes, you can search the web on any dating websites and fill out your profile. By the end of the day, you will notice that you will be solicited for sex. It’s as easy as that.
With no one there to stop you, will you cheat?
